English Language Learning and Environmental Community Service
Our 'student-centered' curriculum is designed to offer students a variety of English language classes in a small group setting.
Students really appreciate customized ESL lessons with plenty of speaking opportunitites. Some courses are designed to teach English in a vocational context serving the needs of the students living and working in our community.
Our founder, Mr. Aaron Kelly, emphasizes 'hands-on' learning through field trips and community service learning opportunities.
Schools should not be, "so set apart, so isolated from ordinary conditions and motives of life... it is the one place in the world where it is most difficult to get experience - the mother of all disciple."
- John Dewey (education reformer)
“Truly there can be no more noble contribution than the work of studying and teaching language as a means of gaining and sharing knowledge of cultures different from our own, and in this way fostering the spirit of mutual appreciation and understanding.”
- Daisaku Ikeda (Founder of Soka University of America)
Peace Centered Education Society
Curriculum for our English Language Program
Educational reformers have advocated the need for 'hands-on' experiential learning
Japanese education reformer Tsunesaburo Makiguchi asserted that, through his version of a half-day school system it would increase the chances for students to interact directly with nature. He believed this would develop virtues such as compassion and a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of all living things.
Peace Centered Education Society offers a 'Hands-on'
